| If you have
visited this site before, you may notice a small change
in the name. Formerly known as the Tsurugi Web, this site is now less specific and is now dedicated to the Hirobo line of helicopters. |
The really big news is the release of the SST Eagle Freya. The new helicopter is designed as a true 3D machine based on the Eagle 2 and engineered for light weight and increased maneuverability. The street price of the "Freya" is around $675 which is just tremendous value for money. If features a fully driven tail, adjustable flybar feed back ratios, adjustable mixing lever lengths, full ball bearing, CCPM option, and up to an .80 engine.
The heli is known as "Feya" after the Norse god of love. This is the literal meaning of the name; however, I believe that the Japanese manufacturer's intent is to mean "beautiful." The Freya is certainly a good looking machine with a flight performance to match.
Hopefully, you will have seen it flown by Todd Bennett (Hirobo's only factory pilot in the U.S.) If you haven't, then try to show up at one of the fun flys where Todd is appearing. You won't believe his ability nor the Freya's capability. There will be much more on this web site shortly about the Freya with reviews and tips.
The name of this web site changed for a variety of reasons. Firstly, I am now flying several different helicopters and felt that a little expansion of the web site based on my experiences would help everyone else. Also, since the second world championship win by Hashimoto and the promotion of the Eagle, in part due to Todd Bennett, the Eagle has seen a tremendous gain in popularity. It seems fitting to cover it here since I am now flying two of them. Finally, the new Freya is sure to grab a major share of the 60 size market. It is essentially the helicopter requested by all the Hirobo reps and designed for the 3D pilots of the U.S.
Well, after 11 years using Compuserve I'll be making a switch to a fully independent registered domain in 2 months (December). It is so frustrating to not have the tools I need to properly work on this web site and to have to get through all the AOL style junk like advertising and sales e-mail. Look for a total make over of this site and lots more information when it goes "live."
